Steps to become a New Golfer

  1. Before using any facility including Driving Range(s) at any of the two Golf courses, as a new golfer you are required to fill up and submit the "Application Form for Starting Golf at Jamshedpur" to your respective club office. This form can be collected from the Starter of either course. Once the form is processed and approved, your club will begin deducting the monthly golf subscription as per the rate chart.

  2. Thereafter you will be eligible to use the course facilities such as the driving range and other practice areas. You must attain a reasonable amount of proficiency through practice and/or training, and should be capable of demonstrating the following skills when you are ready to take the handicap test.

    1. Bunker-out – Get a minimum 6 out of 10 balls out of the bunker on to the Chipping Green.
    2. Chipping - A minimum 6 out of 10 balls must stay on the Chipping Green.
    3. Play holes - Play first four holes (either at Beldih or at Golmuri) where you must score 10 over par or better.
  3. You must also familiarize yourself with the rules of golf, the local rules at Beldih & Golmuri courses, and general golf etiquettes.

  4. After having achieved the above proficiency you can start playing rounds along with any member golfer who already holds a handicap, and submit your scorecards to the course starter mentioning (for new handicap) against your name. Rounds should be played only when the course is free i.e. after 7 AM on weekdays only. In order to get a handicap you must submit minimum of 5 cards of 18 holes, or 10 cards of 9 holes, or in any combination of 9/18 making a minimum of 90 holes. All scorecards must be duly signed by the accompanying member who already has an official handicap and will act as a Marker.

  5. After submission of cards as explained above, you may contact the Handicap Committee for a handicap test. Date and time can be fixed with the handicap committee. A handicap test will be conducted by evaluating your proficiency as per items 2 & 3 above through field test and interview. Based on the field evaluation, interview, and submitted cards, the committee shall determine whether to allot a handicap or not. If you pass the evaluation and are approved for allotment of handicap, you will be advised by the committee to deposit your 18-hole golf contribution of ₹ 59,000 at the Golmuri club. Subsequently, a Handicap Index along with course handicaps for both golf courses shall be allotted.

  6. In case you fail the evaluation, you can reappear after a minimum gap of 10 days.
