The city of Jamshedpur is well known as the Steel City of India, thanks to the vision of Shri Jamshedji Nusserwanji Tata who laid the foundation of this steel city way back in 1907 by setting up India's first steel plant. Sports has been an integral part of Jamshedpur's lifestyle and culture. The Tatas have always given due importance to promote various forms of sports including Golf.

Jamshedpur is located in Jharkhand state, amid hills, It is surrounded by the Dalma hills from west to east and covered with dense forests. Such idyllic surroundings were the inspiration for developing the region with golf courses. The Tata group promoted this sport actively, and today Jamshedpur is home to two golf courses – the Beldih Golf Course and the Golmuri Golf Course. The Beldih Golf Course is a 6900 yards 18 hole course. Essentially it is a 9-hole course converted to an 18-hole course by using separate tees. The Golmuri Golf Course is a full 18-hole course spanning over 6300 yards.

The prestigious Tata Open Golf Tournament is played at both the courses every year under the auspices of the PGTI. It also hosts several tournaments for member golfers including the Steel City Golf tournament & Jubilee Golf tournament, where local players and players from other clubs are invited to play. With the increasing attention this sport is getting these days, Jamshedpur is becoming famous for more than just steel. Golf has won this city a lot of laurels and we hope this will encourage more people, young and old, to take up this sport.

If you are interested in learning this sport or would like to play when you are next in Jamshedpur, we warmly welcome you to our club.
